Working Girl

Not only am I one of the rare few women in SoFla who hasn’t had any plastic surgery, but apparently I’m also one of the few women around here who actually works and supports myself instead of mooching off of a rich man.  And that shocks and appalls me as much as the plastic surgery issue does. Satanism 101

While many people were celebrating Easter this past weekend, I went about my usual business unaware that it was even Easter weekend until someone mentioned it to me.  Although I was brought up in a Fundamentalist Southern Baptist church as a young child, I completely turned my back on organized religion a few years ago, and I never felt happier and more free in my life since doing so. Natural vs. Fake

One of the first things I noticed after moving to SoFla was that EVERYONE here has had plastic surgery. Well….maybe not everyone, but definitely 99% of them have. And what shocks me the most about it is how BAD much of it looks. I come from an area where hardly anyone ever gets plastic surgery, so I had never really seen what the results actually look like until I moved to Florida and was then surrounded by people who had multiple procedures done. I don’t know how I could have forgotten something as personally important as this, but I guess it’s because it was so painful to think about that I pushed it to the back of my mind. It was the first of this month that my beloved family home was sold and turned over to its new owners. I honestly don’t know which has been harder to deal with, Grandma’s passing away or the loss of our beloved home. Continue reading “Take Me Home”

Dealing With Death

The heavy spring and summer rain showers have returned to southern Florida. It’s been a dreary, gray, rainy week here in my area. My outdoor flowers are dead, and I can’t enjoy the outdoors right now. It’s times like this that the Blues sets in and I think back on the loved ones I lost recently. 2015 was a year filled with death for me and my family. I lost three family members this past year; two of them were very important to me. Continue reading “Dealing With Death”
